Witch Hunt - Antonio x Reader
~

You had just moved to this kingdom, hoping to start your life afresh. The last village had nearly found out your secret: you were a witch. Being a witch had not changed anything, it just let you see magical creatures such as pixies, elves and many others, and given you powers of nature.

You walked down the busy street, the cool breeze gently caressing your hair. You were hoping to get some groceries to cook. You first stopped at the vegetable store. The owner was a kind woman, plump and sweet. You got some tomatoes, potatoes and lettuce.

You stopped at the butcher next, getting some freshly cut meat. Lastly, you stopped at the bakery to get some bread. You had just gotten out of the bakery, ready to head back home to cook some delicious lunch. A few playful little children ran past, knocking your potatoes out of the bag you were carrying. You frowned and put your other groceries down, before crouching down to pick up the potatoes.

You were about to reach for one last potato when a hand gently took it. You looked up in surprise. Your eyes met with the stranger who picked up your potato. His eyes were a bright olive green, his skin was tanned and chocolate brown locks messily adorned his head.
He flashed a bright smile before placing the potato back into your bag.

"Here you go, senorita!" The stranger said cheerily.

"Thank you very much." You smiled as you got up, dusting the skirt of your dress.

"May, I have the pleasure of knowing your name, chica? I'm Antonio Fernandes Carriedo!" Antonio said, smiling brightly.

You laughed a little before replying ," My name is _____ _____. Nice to meet you, Antonio."

Unbeknownst to the both of you, a holy girl in a hood stood watching, jealousy and hatred forming in her heart.

~

While you were walking through the street just for sightseeing, the wind blew stronger and the string of your headdress finally could not take it anymore, flew with the wind into the sky. You looked up to the sky and sighed. The headdress was the final reminder of your mother, who had been burned on a cross for performing magic.

You had just started walking in defeat, when someone called out to you.

"_____! _____! Is this yours?" You spotted Antonio frantically waving at you, your headdress clutched in his hand.

"Antonio! Yes, that is mine." You said in relief.

Antonio walked over and stretched out his hand that was holding your headdress. You reached for it but he pulled his hand back quickly and laughed.

"Not so fast, mi querida! Let me put it on for you." He smiled.

"Oh Antonio!" You playfully smacked his arm.

He gently put it on for you, his fingers skimming the surface of your skin. Your face heated up a bit.

"So, do you want to walk with me? I can show you around!" Antonio asked, gesturing around him.

You giggled softly, before complying. "Of course, Antonio!"

You walked around the kingdom. Antonio was telling you about the history of one fountain when you asked him,

"Hm, Antonio, why do you know so much about the kingdom? You practically know everything about this place!"

"Well, mi querida, I am the prince! If I did not know, I would not be fit to rule!" Antonio said, as if it was the most obvious thing on earth.

"You're the prince? I never knew!" You gasped in surprise.

"Well, now you know, don't you?" Antonio laughed.

You laughed as well, and continued walking with Antonio, arms linked together.

You liked spending time with Antonio. He was cheerful, sweet and kind. You always felt strange around him. Your heart would start beating rapidly, your cheeks would turn as pink as a peach, and before you knew it, you had fallen in love with him.

The brown haired girl stood watching the two of you again, a sad smile on her face, but as a plan hatched, it became a victorious smirk.

~

"Prince Antonio! Prince Antonio!" The brown haired girl ran up to the prince, breathless.

"What is it, Elizabeta?" Antonio said, still dreaming about _____.

"Prince Antonio! I believe I have found a witch in the kingdom!" Elizabeta cried.

"What witch, Elizabeta?" Antonio replied.

"_____ _____ is a witch! I have seen her performing magic! It is crime against God! She must repent!" Elizabeta said angrily.

"Elizabeta, are you sure? Mi querida _____ would never be a witch, she is too beautiful." Antonio said.

"No, I have proof! I saw her do magic! I swear on God's name, I saw her do magic! She is using black magic to steal your heart, Prince Antonio! She is only trying to get your riches for herself!"

"Black magic? Are you sure, Elizabeta?" Antonio said, slowly believing Elizabeta.

"Yes, I'm very sure! She must repent!" Elizabeta insisted.

Antonio looked down at the marble flooring, before saying sadly, "Yes, Elizabeta… she must repent. Send the guards to catch her."

Elizabeta nearly squealed. "GUARDS, GUARDS! GO FIND ____ AND BRING HER TO THE CASTLE!"

~

Antonio's POV-

____ …. She was using black magic to control me? I cannot believe this. All those smiles… all the times I spent with her… were fake? But I trust Elizabeta, she was my childhood friend.

I could not help falling in love with _____. Her smiles… all the times she laughed, it completely enchanted me. Now those times are gone. She is a witch and she will repent. But why does my heart still ache for her even though I know this? Why do I still feel tears?

~

You were roughly dragged by palace guards. You had tried to struggle, but it was futile. They were too strong for you. They pulled you all the way to the palace and tossed you inside a room. Your arm hit the floor and you cried out softly in pain. Your dress was torn and tattered and your headdress had fallen off.

You felt tears threatening to leak from your eyes, but you stopped it. You looked up and saw Antonio standing in front of a desk. Your heart gave a leap of happiness.

"Antonio!" You cried out happily.

He gave you a cold stare and you flinched. Why was he treating you so harshly?

"Do not talk to me like that, you witch." Antonio said angrily.

Witch? Had he found out you were a witch? How? These thoughts raced through your mind.

"You just want my riches. Did you think you could try to control my heart with filthy black magic?" Antonio said furiously, glaring at you menacingly.

You felt tears fall from your eyes. Black magic? What nonsense was he talking about? Mother had always told you black magic that was used to control people was forbidden. It was a crime, to all good witches. Only bad witches did it, she said.

"Black magic?" You whimpered.

Antonio nearly ran to comfort you when he looked at your face. It was filled with surprise, shock, sadness and hurt. 'No… she is a witch! You must control yourself!' Antonio thought.

"Do not act like you don't know about it!" Antonio snapped.

You whimpered once again, the tearing feeling in your heart beginning to increase.

"I honestly do not know what you are talking about, Antonio! I truly love you! Please, believe me!" You cried out.

"NO! I will never love a monster like you! All those times you spent with me, it was fake! I WILL NOT BELIEVE A MONSTER LIKE YOU!" Antonio shouted angrily, tears falling from his eyes.

"GUARDS! TAKE HER TO THE CROSS!"

You gasped. The cross? Were they going to burn you, like how they did to Mother? You were crying again, at Antonio's harsh words. It was painful to hear it from him, your beloved. The guard carelessly slung you over his shoulder and carried you to the cross.

You were flung onto the rocky ground, cuts already beginning to form due to the sharp jagged rocks embedded in the ground. Your long hair splayed around you, making a guard realize that he had not cut off your hair yet. He quickly picked up a dagger, pulled your head up using your hair and uncaringly sliced off your long locks.

You could feel your tears sliding down your face as you stared into the bright sky. Another guard roughly picked you up and pressed you against the wooden cross, your head slamming into the hard surface. They used thick coarse rope to tie you tightly to the cross. The string was cutting into your hands and legs.

A crowd had started to form around the cross, staring intently at you. You saw Antonio pushing through the crowd with another hooded girl. They finally stopped at the front of the crowd and the hooded girl shouted.

"WE HAVE A WITCH HERE! SHE HAS TRICKED OUR PRINCE USING BLACK MAGIC TO CONTROL HIS HEART! WHAT MUST SHE DO?"

"SHE MUST REPENT! REPENT!" The crowd roared.

You noticed Antonio was staring at you. You could still feel your affection for him, but your anger was rising slowly by the second. Still, you looked down, tears falling to the ground. The cuts you had gotten from the rocky ground had started to bleed, and soon, red blotches had began to appear on the surface of the ground.

"BURN HER!" The crowd shouted enthusiastically.

Horses with carts rode to the sides. The carts were filled with hay. Quickly, the palace guards picked up bunches of hay and started throwing it to the bottom of the cross. Once they had emptied the carts of hay, they took their torches and marched towards the cross.

"ANY LAST WORDS, WITCH?" The hooded girl screamed.

"IF YOU CALL THIS LOVE BLACK MAGIC –"

The guards had started throwing their torches at the cross.

"THEN LIGHT THE FLAMES OF HATRED!" You screamed angrily.

"The foolishness of empty headed people. The evening's red sun will continue to burn." You whispered softly.

Antonio looked shocked. You could see the regret in his face, but it was too late.

"REPENT! REPENT!" The crowd shouted. You could feel the flames licking at your legs. Was this how you were going to die?

You felt all your hatred, all your anger. You had never felt like this before. You were angry beyond words.

You tossed your head back and screamed the loudest you could. You felt the thick rope snapping, releasing you from the cross. The gasps and screams of the audience were audible, but you were already soaring off into the sky with your black wings.

Before flying off, you looked at Antonio with a sad smile, and said softly, "Goodbye my sweet prince, goodbye."
